Array Design Studio

About

3D visualisation, built on engineering rigour.

We sit at the intersection of concept visualisation and engineering practice. We build renders, real-time environments, and 3D-printed models that hold up under technical review as rigorously as they communicate design intent, with geometry, materials, and tolerances grounded in accurate data throughout.

Alongside that, CFD and FEA simulation extend what a 3D asset can do, moving it from a visual interpretation of an idea to a validated representation of how it will actually perform.

How this started

This didn't start in a 3D viewport. It started with pencil, paper, and a landmark to learn from.

A hand-drawn anchorage detail blueprint transitioning into its digital AutoCAD equivalent

The origins of Array Design Studio trace back to the technical and engineering department at the Humber Bridge in East Yorkshire, converting original hand-drawn schematics and blueprints into digital AutoCAD files, then into 3D models. It was a steep learning curve, working alongside capable, talented people on an internationally recognised landmark, and it's where the confidence to found the studio came from.

That grounding, combined with a background spanning graphic design, industrial design, and physics, has shaped everything the studio has done since. Over the ten years that followed, it carried into projects across heavy manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, aerospace, and architecture, including HAZOPs and process design reviews whose lessons continue to inform how Array Design Studio approaches every brief.

That combination of technical and industry knowledge with precision 3D modelling and rendering now underpins the studio's full service offering: technical drawings including P&IDs, illustrative concept models, ultra high-detail models and renders, 3D animations, particle simulations, and finite element analysis (FEA). Alongside this, the studio builds real-time environments and interactions in Unreal Engine 5, bringing engineering accuracy and interactive visualisation together within a single workflow.

What that means in practice

Concept architectural render with accurate daylight and material detail
01

Architecture, in context

Renders where the materials would actually work in real life, in digital buildings placed in real environments, with the sun moving across the sky correctly because the scene is geo-located to real longitude and latitude. Photorealistic output that holds up to stakeholder engagement and planning regulator scrutiny, not just a mood board.

Process & plant, done properly

Factory floor layouts that account for human factors, safety hazards, and maintenance access. P&IDs built to industry-standard iconography and object tagging, viewable in a 3D environment. We've worked in process safety and engineering long enough to know how much friction bad documentation causes, and we build to remove it.

Scale you can trust

Technically accurate models and drawings for when footprint matters as much as function, positioning equipment for commissioning or decommissioning virtually before committing to it physically. A tape measure doesn't have to be the only thing standing between a plan and a costly mistake.

Most visualisation studios can make a concept look real. Fewer can also tell you, with a simulation pass rather than a guess, whether it would actually work.
